Moving on, But the store is staying

Things here in the magic shop have gotten a little hectic recently. Most of this is my (Corey-Magic Supervisor) fault though. I have after 2 years with US Toy Magic decided to part ways with the company. This was my decision, I am going into a more career job, instead of just having a job. I am going to be staying with the company as a buyer for magic. So that is a good thing. If you shop at our store, you will still get quality magic. The bad news is, the magic/costume shop is getting a whole new staff. I will continue to blog for US Toy magic. But will have less of a presence.

The Shop and some lectures

It has been super busy here at the magic shop recently. We have had a ton of new Costume product come in and some magic as well.. We have also been really busy with lectures. So far just this year we have had, Jay Scott Berry, Duane Lafflin, Rick Maue, David London, Troy Hooser. and Tonight we have Bob Sheets lecturing and Saturday night David Ginn is doing a workshop at the shop. So needless to say, things have been hectic. On top of that schedule we have been super short handed, but things will be changing with some of our students being out of school. Then I (Corey) will be going on vacation at the end of the month. So that will be fun, Who knows what will happen while I am gone.

If you haven't been into the magic shop for a while stop on by and check things out, We are always having specials going on, and we are trying to get rid of some of our old stuff, So stop on by and say hello.

Lectures and more lectures

Well we have hit our busy time in the shop magic wise. We are having lectures like crazy, Duane Lafflin was just in town a couple of weeks ago. He had an amazing lecture. Tonight we have Fielding West for a lectuer, then on March 28th Rick Maue and David London will be here. This will be an exciting lecture. To top things off, In may Bob Sheets will be here. What an action packed year we are having so far. So come on out and enjoy the magic at US Toy.

Positive Turn Out

We have had a pretty rough start this year of 2008. Here in the magic shop we have undergone changes in management and outlook on our sales. While we are still very much Customer oriented, we are also focusing on our sales, Because without sales, we can not exist.

Since I (Corey) have officially taken over the Magic/Costume shop, We have made some great Positive change. Our shop is cleaner, and more organized. We are offering more sales, and even have a table of product at the employee discount. But the biggest change is that we are now like a family. We have our disagreements at times, But we all work together to make your shopping expeirience the best that it can be.

Cleaning up the Shop

After the mess of Halloween, it is time to clean things up in the Magic shop. First thing today we hit our stockroom to condense some of our catalog section down. Tomorrow (Saturday November 17th) we are going to start an inventory by vendor to help better serve our customers that purchase via our website and by phone. This will be a long process, but we are shooting for 10 vendors a day. I (Corey Harris) will probably even try to work on my day off on Sunday to help the inventory. Our goal is to have this completed by the beginning of the year.

Another thing we are going to try to do this weekend is cleaning our shelves that are viewable to our customers in the shop. We have way to much clutter, This is something that needs to be done and stay done.
